Students with disabilities glean a significant amount of information about a course and their instructor from the access statement. A well designed statement indicates the faculty member’s level of commitment to designing their course in a way that welcomes all students, including those with a disability, and provides guidance to those students who experience barriers.
As a minimum, the statement should include contact information for the ATU-Ozark Disability Services Office and be placed prominently (preferably within the first page) of the syllabus.
There have been recent changes to the processing of flexibility agreements for our student. Starting Spring 2020, the wording within the Faculty Notification Letter has been updated to the following:
SERVICE AND ASSISTANCE ANIMAL POLICYInstructor Accommodation Form
Academic Early Warning Reporting Instructions
Academic Early Warning (AEW) is a student success and retention program enabling instructors to communicate any academic concerns that appear to be interfering with a student’s success in their class.
An AEW reminder is sent to all faculty at the beginning of each fall and spring semesters. Faculty can report at-risk students to AEW through OneTech. The link can be found on "Advising-Faculty" card under the "Student Success Tools" dropdown. Faculty may specify poor attendance or students who will be dropped with a "WN" (excessive absences). Students can be reported through the last day to drop with a “W” for that term.
The Student Success Coordinator works to contact students by phone, email and schedule appointments to connect students with campus resources and to assist with identifying strategies for improvement.
Faculty receive notifications if the Student Success Coordinator was able to successfully contact the student or not, as well as if the student intends to contact their professor or drop the course.
