Title IX was passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. This federal civil rights law prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX states:
鈥淣o person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.鈥�
The Title IX Office supports the 米乐M6 mission of student success, access, and excellence by cultivating a responsive campus community through education of federal laws and approaches to identify, prevent, and report discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.
